The Social Democratic Party, SDP governorship candidate in Abia State Hon. Blessing Nwagba, has vowed never to step down for Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Nwagba who made the declaration Wednesday at a press briefing at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia said she was in the race to win.
“I am running my race to win “, she said.
The lawmaker who was flanked by the state Chairman of the party, Chidi Nwosu, and her running mate, Comrade Augustine Uchenna was reacting to the purported adoption of Gov. Ikpeazu by 17 Local Government Area Chairmen of the party.
The chairmen who were later suspended by the state leadership of the party for anti -party activities had advised Nwagba to step down for Ikpeazu who they said had more capacity to win the election.
Nwagba was elected into the Abia House of Assembly on the platform of PDP before joining SDP after losing PDP ticket for House of Representatives.
Ikpeazu and Nwagba are both from Abia South senatorial zone.
But the suspended chairmen said Ikpeazu stood a better chance of winning the March 9 governorship poll to complete the slot of the Ngwa people.
Irked by the statement credited to the suspended chairmen that Ikpeazu had more capacity, Nwagba dared them.
“I am more capable than that any other candidate “, she thundered.
