Security beefed up in Abia ahead of APC mega rally

There was heavy presence of security operatives around Umuahia Township Stadium, venue of the mega rally by the All Progressive Congress, APC, scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 24.
APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is expected at the rally where the National Chairman of the party would hand over the party’s flag to the governorship candidate, Chief Ikechi Emenike.
When Wawa News Global visited the stadium Monday afternoon, preparations were on top gear as workers were observed setting up equipment and canopies.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Bala was sighted with the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security Defense Service, NSDC, at the stadium .
They were escorted by a detachment of their respective personnel who were strategically positioned at various locations of the stadium .
APC governorship hopeful, Chief Emenike; and Deputy Chief Whip, House of Representatives, and member representing Isuikwuato/: Umunneochi federal constituency, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, were also sighted at the stadium inspecting the level of preparations.
They were accompanied by party officials and members of the APC Camping Council.
Efforts to interview the duo on their impression of the preparation did not yield any fruit as they declined to speak with the press.
There was however, a mild drama as some loyalists of Rep. Sam Onuigbo, and Emeka Atuma were dragging for a position to hoist the flex of their principal.
Onuigbo and Atuma had both laid claims to be position until recently the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, declared Onuigbo the authentic candidate of APC for Abia central district.
