2023: Tinubu Support Group Gives Reasons For Muslim Muslim Ticket

Tinubu Support Group in Bayelsa State has explained the rationale behind the Muslim-Muslim ticket of All Progressives Congress, APC, while dismissing allegations of Islamizing Nigeria by Alhaji Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu Tinubu if elected into office.

Speaking during a town hall meeting with Christian leaders in Yenagoa with the theme: “We Stand With The Church”, Bayelsa State Coordinator of the Tinubu Support Group, Prince Ebitimi Amgbare said Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu took the decision of same faith ticket in order to win elections, adding that the whole purpose of contesting an election is to win.

According to Amgbare, Tinubu antecedents as governor and family man attest to the fact that he is liberal to other faith, noting that as a Muslim governor, he was able to appoint Christians into his cabinet as the then governor of Lagos State.

The former governorship candidate of ACN stated that Asiwaju is not just married to a Christian but a Pastor of a renowned Pentecostal Church in Nigeria and they have been living together peacefully for over 40 years.

He urged religious leaders in the state to look at the track records of the former Lagos State governor, saying Tinubu/Shettima ticket will bring about economic development and security Nigerian have been yearning for.

He pointed out that the APC presidential candidate was the first Muslim governor to declare a special day as the State Thanksgiving Day as early as the year 2000, adding further that he was able to build biggest Monastery at Epe for the Church.

His words; “People have said that it was a political suicide for Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take another Muslim as a running mate. As a Church, I want to assure you today that it was for political expediency. Asiwaju took that decision because the whole essence of going into an election is to win. He felt that the best person to help him win the election is his running mate, Kassim Shettima.

“He didn’t take that decision to slight the Church. Ahmed Tinubu is married to a Christian and not just a Christian but a Pastor. He didn’t convince her or covert her to be a Muslim. He married his wife and they have been living peaceably. He always says that they kept the Bible and Qua’ran in their house and no day has the Bible and Qur’an quarrel of fight each other.

“The pastors you see here today are indigenous general overseers having churches in rural communities.

“We created this town hall meeting to dismiss allegations leveled against our presidential candidate and his running mate. You know politics is local, there have been a lot of things said about Tinubu/Shettima ticket, that it is designed to slight the church, islamize Nigeria.

“We have talked to all the Christian Leaders and answered all their questions. They are now well informed about Tinubu/ Shettima ticket, they are going back home with positive mind set.

“His children are free to choose their religion. He has not imposed it on them to say you are my child you must be a Muslim, No! And that is the way the man has been living his life. The man doesn’t understand religion; the man doesn’t not understand tribe. All that he knows is competent. It is definitely not to undo the church but rather to win election and bring everybody together”, he concluded.

Also speaking, Chief Ivory Fikuro described Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu as a political, developmental and family strategist who is an exceptional manager of resources as well as a seasoned administrator, emphasizing that Tunubu is a man interested in human capital development.

Fikoru further described Tinubu as a bridge-biulder across regional, ethnic and religious lines that are capable of uniting Nigeria.

The Deputy State Coordinator of TSG, Binaebi Godspower said Tinubu is a detribalized leader who is development oriented equipped with capacity and experience to change the multi-faceted challenges bedeviling the country.

“We are here today to interact with Christian Leaders in Bayelsa State.

“The presidential candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) Asiwuju Tinubu has come to redeem Nigeria of the multi-faceted issues facing our dear Nation.

“He has come to change the narrative, he is a Muslim and coming with another Muslim is just for political expediency. The election need to win clean. Tinubu has a wife who is a Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God and they have been living peacefully over ages.”

On his part, Rev. Gilbert Inesei representing the Glory of All Lands Ministers Assembly, GOALMAS said the meeting is timely as it has afforded the Church to interact with political class adding that with such forum it will be easy for Christians to key into the manifesto of the political party.

“I want to thank God for this short interactive session we have with the Tinubu Support Group.

“The political class is recognizing Christians in the scheme of things and I think TSG has done well and I implore other political parties to emulate TSG”, he stated.
