Abia PDP ‘strange zoning’: Greg Ibe to to unveil next move Easter Sunday
By Steve Oko

A frontline governorship aspirant of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abia State, Professor Greg Ibe, will be formally reacting to the controversial ‘strage zoning’ formula of the party in a live broadcast on Easter Sunday.
Professor Ibe is from Uturu in Isuikwuato which has been laying claims on the right to produce Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu’s successor in 2023 as Isuikwuato District is the only alphabet that is yet to taste power in the four-letter Abia (A-B-I-A) acronym.
Other Divisions have all produced Governor remaining Isuikwuato District which believes would be given the opportunity in 2023 but the simultaneous zoning by PDP which ceded its ticket to Abia North and Abia Central districts all at the same time, seems to threaten the District chances.

The strange zoning has since ignited political turbulence in the state with former Senate President Senator Adolphus Wabara warning that PDP could lose Abia in 2023 if the strange zoning were not immediately reversed.
Abia North PDP stakeholders led by Dr Eme Okoro have also opposed the zoning formula which according to them is a ploy to actualise the much-rumoured Ngwa self succession agenda.
Professor Ibe had last week told Wawa News Global that he was under intense pressure to dump the big umbrella and pursue his governorship ambition under another political platform.
Meanwhile below is a full text of a press statement by his media office hinting of his Easter Sunday press conference.
“Sequel to the lingering impasse trailing the strange zoning formula lately proposed by Abia state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for the 2023 gubernatorial election, a top contender for the number one position, Prof Gregory recently embarked on extensive consultations with Abians and other stakeholders round the Seventeen Local Government Areas of the state and across party lines.
“During the tour, he was able to feel the pulse of the people about critical trending social, economic and political developments in God’s Own State.
“Having thus contracted, conducted and concluded far reaching interactions with Religious Leaders, Revered Elders, City Fathers, Opinion Molders, Captains of Industry, Market Associations, Town Union Executives, Non Indigenes Associations and a cross section of Ordinary Abians across board, Prof Gregory Ibe is now set to unveil the strategic outcomes and pronounce the good resolutions emerging from his wide consultations.
“Arising from the foregoing therefore, Abians are hereby invited to monitor and listen to a message of Hope and Direction by Prof Ibe on Easter Sunday 17 April 2022 by 13:00 WAT, to be delivered at Uturu Royal Country Club.
