Police arrest vendor, sieze his PVC

A vendor was arrested Saturday morning by the police in Umuahia for selling newspapers on an election day.
The incident took place at a popular newsstand adjacent the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Press Centre Aba Road.
A detachment of heavily armed police men had mounted a road block at the Round About opposite NUJ search every vehicle that passed by.
The vendor, Mr. Victor popularly known as Vimo had already cast his vote at a nearby polling unit at the Post Office in front of the NUJ Press Centre.
Every attempt by the vendor to explain to the police that he had voted fell on deaf ear as they quickly sieze his Permanent Voter Card, PVC .
His left thumb was coscupiously marked with ink, an indication that he must have truly voted
It took the intervention of journalists at the scene to secure release for the vendor and his PVC.
