A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Awgu Local Government Area , Enugu State , Chief Raymond Onyimba (Onwa na Mgbidi) , has described the victory of the Deputy Senate President , Dr. Ike Ekweremadu in the February 23 National Assembly poll as “well -deserved”.
The former Council boss who spoke with Wawa News Global said the landslide by Ekweremadu at the poll was a public attestation of his acceptance and popularity among his constituents.
Onyimba , a key political stakeholder in the Greater Awgu political bloc comprising Awgu and Aninri LGAs, said Ekweremadu’s incontrovertible records at the red chamber had distinguished him from others.
He noted that apart from his legislative acumen and quality contributions at the Senate, Ekweremadu had also attracted remarkable projects to Enugu West senatorial zone.
The legal luminary said Ekweremadu had positively impacted on many lives through his numerous empowerment programmes, human capacity building, scholarship scheme and other gestures.
Onyimba said Ekweremadu’s re-election for a fifth term was a public endorsement of his visionary leadership and political sagacity.
Describing the Deputy Senate President as a political Iroko and distinguished lawmaker, Onyimba assured him of the continued support of his people.
He further noted that the massive vote garnered by Ekweremadu at the poll was a confirmation that the senatorial zone and indeed the entire Enugu State remained a PDP stronghold.
The PDP chieftain who insisted that other parties “are not on ground “in the state , pledged his continued support for Ekweremadu.
He wished him well and urged his opponents at the poll to rally behind him in the spirit of sportsmanship.
Onyimba called on other politicians to emulate Ekweremadu’s style of politics which he said is devoid of acrimony and witch hunting but accommodating and progressive.
