PDP won’t implode, ‘ll regain power in 2027 – Sen Wabara
By Steve Oko
The  Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Adolphus Wabara, has told those wishing PDP to implode over some internal crisis bedeviling the party, to expect the shock of their lives.
Senator Wabara who stated this in a media chat ahead of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, declared that “those expecting PDP to implode will be disappointed”.
The former Senate President said that PDP had astute and seasoned politicians who had the capacity to manage any kind of political crisis.
He said he had no doubt that PDP would emerge from its current challenges stronger and more formidable to mount a vibrant opposition until 2027 when it would regain power at the centre.
Senator Wabara  noted that political crisis was not peculiar to PDP but a common feature in every human organisation.
According to him, no other political party in Nigeria could pass through the various challenges that the PDP navigated and remained intact.
Senator Wabara expressed confidence that whatever “internal issues” PDP is currently passing through would be amicably resolved at the forthcoming NEC meeting of the party.
PDP has an array of seasoned politicians and democrats whose main interest is  “Nigeria First”, Wabara added.
He further said:”Whatever people think is happening in PDP today is not strange nor peculiar to the PDP. Political parties all over the world especially the big parties will always have challenges from time to time.
” But the interesting thing is that whatever issues we have today in our party will only make us stronger and more united.
” I’m confident that whatever grievances any member has, will be trashed at the NEC meeting on Thursday. Our party elders will use the elders’ lens to look at them and have them resolved.
” PDP has come a long way and has weatherd bigger storms in the past. All those expecting PDP to explode will surely be disappointed. We will come out stronger and ultimately rebounce as the ruling national party come 2027″.
The former Senate President appealed to PDP faithful who might have been aggrieved, to be willing to sacrifice for the good of the party.
Wawa News Global recalls that 60 national lawmakers of the PDP led by Hon. Ugochinyere Ikenga, had called for the resignation of the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, accusing him of unholy alliance with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
They alleged that the Acting National Chairman is hobnobbing with  the APC with a view  to hand over PDP to the APC.
Former Vice President, and PDP’s presidential candidate in 2023, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; the  Minister for the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike, are battling for the soul of PDP.

Pundits believe that the ability of the party’s stakeholders to weave the ragging cold war between the two gladiators, will determine the survival of PDP.
It is also believed that Senator Wabara with his wealth of experience, maturity, candour and sagacity as the Chairman of the BoT of the former national ruling party, will be able, with the support of other elders of the party, quell whatever tempest that may be rising against the PDP.
