Prof Uwaoma Uche now DVC Gregory university

Astute scholar, Professor Uwaoma Uche has been appointed the Deputy Vice Chancellor, DVC, Academics, of the prestigious Gregory University Uturu.

The appointment according to a letter signed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Augustine Uwakwe, takes effect from December 15, 2022.

He was, until his latest appointment, the Dean, College of Social and Management Sciences, Gregory University Uturu.

Professor Uche is also the Director, Institute of Continuing Education Programme (ICEP) and Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) in Gregory University Uturu.

Wawa News Global checks revealed that he is a Professor of Mass Communication with specialization in Broadcast Management, Film and Multimedia Studies.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) Radio TV Film Production; Master of Arts (MA )Media/Arts Administration and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)Broadcast Management, all from the prestigious University of Calabar Nigeria.

He cut his professional edge in the media fora as a Presenter/ Producer with the Cross River Broadcasting Corporation Calabar In 1989.

Professor Uche has over three decades teaching and scholarship experience in the academic world which started in 1993 as a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication,The Polytechnic Calabar and moved on to the Cross River University of Technology, Calabar; Abia State University Uturu; Renaissance University Ugbawka Enugu; Abia State Polytechnic Aba; Hezekiah University Umudim, Nkwere; Rhema University Aba and Gregory University Uturu.

He has been the Head of Mass Communication Department in all the aforementioned institutions and even pioneered the establishment of three namely :Hezekiah University, Rhema University and Abia State Polytechnic.

He has 66 publications to his credit as journal articles and book chapters in reputable peer reviewed works locally, institutionally and internationally.

Professor Uche was a former Secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)Abia State University Chapter and University Orator.

He has also been the Special Aide on Political Enlightenment to Governor Orji Uzor Kalu; Special Aide on Orientations to Governor Theodore Orji; Special Adviser on Grassroot Mobilization to Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, all in Abia State.

This thorough- bred academic belongs to many professional bodies such as the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN); African Council for Communication Education (ACCE); Institute of Mass Communication and Information Management (IMIM); Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ); Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR); a fellow of the Institute of Policy Development Management (IPDM).

He is a Resource Person to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE); the National Universities Commission and the Technical Committee of the National Development Plan 2020-2050.

Professor Uwaoma Uche is a regular Public Speaker; and Media on air Personality.

Prof Uwaoma Uche is also a Senior Research Fellow of the West Africa Green Economy Development Institute.

He is happily married to Mrs Peculiar Uwaoma Uche , a lawyer, and blessed with two lovely sons.
