Use of statutory delegates list, panacea to Abia delegates congress debacle
There is no gainsaying that the only window left for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abia State to resolve the debacle arising from the controversy over the three-man delegate congress is to resort to the use of statutory delegates for the party primaries. Many chieftains including the leader of the PDP at the national Assembly, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe have canvased this option.
The party leadership, as a matter of urgency, should use certified statutory delegates list to conduct the primaries. So far, no ward Congress has taken place in Abia State. The impunity and arrogance in Abia State PDP cannot be quantified.
According to those behind this insanity, what ‘money cannot do, more money can do it’. Abia State must be advised to remember Zamfara state who lost everything in the hands of INEC and the Judiciary….including the Governor’s seat for acting and scripting of Congress list.
Meanwhile, time is running out. All primaries end June 3. For each Congress, Inec needs 7 clear days to prepare for it. Will Abia State manufacture time?
Investigation shows that nearly all hotels at Abuja are fully booked from May 26 to June 10 ahead of the PDP and APC national primaries. Abia delegates, when they finally emerge will definitely sleep in the fields of Abuja at the mercy of thieves and the weather.
This was avoidable. This problem has occurred because s cabal is desirous of anointing their cronies to take over power. They are doing everything possible to also single handedly compile the delegate list against the spirit of participatory democracy.
It is illegal to compile delegates list privately. Over six lawyers have arrived Umuahia to look out for illegality and legality around the conduct of the ward Congress at Abia state. We want certified statutory delegates list to be used for the ward Congress .
