Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu’s brother in-law and former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Chief Eric Acho Nwakanma, has been removed as the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship screening committee for South East, Wawa News Global has been reliably informed.

A source very close to the PDP national secretariat confided in Wawa News Global that Acho had been replaced by Professor Yusuf Dankofa.

The removal of Acho according to findings followed series of protests by different governorship aspirants from Abia State who alleged that his inclusion in the first place was to deliver the preferred aspirant of the powers that be.

A source very close to Wadata House in Abuja said Abia had become “a special case and a source of worry” for the national leadership as the fight for the control of delegates has shifted to Abuja with the various gladiators lobbying for a favourable list.

Wawa News Global gathered that leading PDP governorship aspirants from the state had all flooded the party’s national secretariat with their various lists of delegates which some see as a signal that all is not well.
As the various gladiators intensify their lobbying, some pundits predict that the national leadership of the party might be compelled to jettison the three-man delegate list and restrict participation at the primaries to only automatic delegates.

This, according to the proponents will help reduce the probability of the powers that be from taking advantage of the three-man ward delegates who may not easily resist financial inducement.
The battle line is gradually being drawn between those who want power shift to Abia North, and those who insist that Ukwa-la-Ngwa should yet retain power for another eight years.
With the pulling out of Professor Greg Ibe from the PDP ticket race, there are permutations that Abia North might present only one aspirant at the primaries to consolidate the zone’s chances if the talks for possible consensus sail through.
Apart from consistent warnings from some PDP chieftains, political analysts predict that the ruling PDP might be headed for implosion should its governorship flag be given to any unpopular candidate.
Meanwhile, anxiety has enveloped various camps as the party conducts screening of candidates for various elective positions today.
Most of them insist that all they need is a level playground for all the contestants so that the delegates would be allowed to Independently vote according to their convictions.
