Abia APC commends Buhari for signing electoral bill
* Says Act ‘ll restore public confidence on electoral process

The Abia State leadership of the All Progressive Congress APC has commended President Muhamnadu Buhari, for signing the new Electoral Bill into law.
According to the party, the confidence of Nigeria electorate in the electoral process has been restored.
Abia APC Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu while speaking with newsmen in Umuahia, said by this development, the 2023 General Elections will be free and fair.
He said that the new Electoral Act would also mark and end to the era of electoral fraud particularly over voting and falsification of results.
The APC boss who described the document as a masterstroke and one of the monumental legacies of President Buhari, said Abia would be the greatest beneficiary of the new document.
“In past electoral exercises, Abia State has consistently been riddled with electoral malpractices and fraud; an unfortunate development which has perennially kept Abia on the lowest rung of the development ladder as the most backward state in the country.
“Now, by this latest development, INEC Commissioner will not be forced to declare fake results for fear of being harmed.
“We in Abia are particularly delighted that the Electoral Act Amendment Bill seems to have us in mind. Ndi Abia will perhaps be the biggest benefactors from this new development.
” Never again will our mandate be stolen, never again will Abians groan under incompetent and confused leadership”
He said that “this singular action has positioned the President as a defender of transparent democracy and history will always remember him for this”.
He said President Buhari had proved that “he champions the entrenchment of sustainable democratic ideals by signing this Bill into law, despite frantic and clandestine forces fighting to stop it.”
He said that President Buhari had demonstrated an unwavering determination to place the interests of the country above every other consideration.
The party commended the membership of the National Assembly as well as the civil society groups for their various roles and efforts in the success of the bill.
