Defamation : Senator Orji sues Apugo, radio station for N1.5 billion

Senator Theodore Orji representing Abia Central district, has filed a suit against Prince Benjamin Apugo; and a popular Radio station in Umuahia for N1.5 billion for defamation of his character.
Apugo had in an interview aired by the radio station accused the former governor of corruption and embezzlement of public funds while he held sway as Abia governor..
Senator Orji filed the suit at the Umuahia High Court.
The suit marked HU/209/2020 was filed by his lawyer, Henry Balogu Esq.
The claims endorsed on the writ of Summons are for the sum of #1,500,000,000,00 damages for libel, restraining order of injunction against the defendants.
According to Senator Orji’s lawyer, the defendants have since been served with the court processes.
No date has however been slated for hearing.
