APC’s high cost of nomination form, contradiction of party ‘s anti-graft war – guber aspirant
By Steve Oko
A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressive Congress , APC in Abia State, Ambassador Chidike Ukauwa has strongly criticised the party for the high cost of nomination form for aspirants contesting for various elective positions in 2019.
APC has fixed its nomination and expression of interest forms for the office of the President for N45 ; N22.5 million for Governorship; N7 million for Senate; and N3.8 million for House of Representatives.
This is in sharp contrast to the nomination form of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, which fixed it presidential form for N12.5 million and N6 million for governorship.
Ukauwa who addressed journalists in Umuahia said the exhorbitant cost of APC ‘s nomination form was a contradiction of the party’s anticurroption crusade.
He said that development had made mockery of the anti-corruption stance of the party, adding that it also does not encourage youths participation in politics.

The Abia Governorship aspirant who had earlier announced his withdrawal from the race in support of Dr. Uche Ogah, said high cost of APC’s forms amounted to conspiracy against youths.
He said it was irreconcilable for APC to claim to be fighting corruption why selling its form at a price unaffordable by youths.
Ukauwa who said he was a die -hard supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari faulted the President for only complaining of the high cost of presidential nomination form without prevailing on the party to reduce others.
He however explained that he did not withdraw from the race because he could not afford the nomination form but decided to do so because Ogah who he said “is the most qualified of all those jostling for the position entered the contest.
Ukauwa urged other aspirants to perish their ambition in 2019 so that APC could give its ticket to a credible candidate with capacity and capability to dislodge PDP at the poll.
