Bende group knocks Kalu’s loyalists over attacks on Abia NASS liaison officer

As the rift between the camp of the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu; and that of Gov. Alex Otti continues to smoulder, a group known as Movement for Good Governance, Bende Local Government chapter, has flayed supporters of the Deputy Speaker, over their recent verbal attack on Abia’s Chief Liaison Officer to the National Assembly, Chief Iheanyi Chinasa.
Chief Chinasa, a strong ally of Gov. Otti, had come under attack by Abia APC Renaissance Group, a support group of the Deputy Speaker, for challenging the Deputy Speaker to a media tour of the projects he claimed to have attracted to the constituency.
Chinasa had also demanded accountability over N7 billion erosion control projects in the budget for the erosion sites in the constituency, wondering why the Deputy Speaker as the representative of the people, is not speaking up on such issues.
Movement for Good Governance, in a swift response, described the media attacks on Chinasa as “reckless, unfounded and without substance.”
The group advised members of the public “to ignore sponsored propaganda and outright falsehood” intended to intimidate anyone demanding accountability from the Deputy Speaker.
The statement by the group read:”It is very unfortunate that some misguided elements would allow themselves to be used under a non-existent “APC Coalition” to show the ineptitude of a man who thinks himself a maverick.”
The group wondered how the Deputy Speaker would be making unsubstantiated claims about the allocation accruing to the state.
“It’s appalling that the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives could stand in public to claim that Abia receives N38 billion Naira monthly without proof. He has been challenged with facts and he could not provide any counter.”
The group also knocked the the Deputy Speaker for attempting to credit President Ahmed Tinubu for the achievements of Governor Otti.
Re-echoing the position of Chinasa, the group challenged the Deputy Speaker to respond to the issues of accountability in the constituency projects and stop using his proxy to attach anyone asking probing questions.
“Chinasa called them to question and so far no response. Can we visit those sites they claimed to have executed to see if they are exactly as provided in the budget? Bende people are not stupid!”
The group further attacked the Deputy Speaker “for trying to cry wolf where non existed” concerning the infrastructural loan facility obtained by the state.
” How can you demand to see the completed projects from a loan facility that was just signed? It is still a loan and the implementation stage has not commenced. Now that the Governor’s Aide on Multilateral and Donor Agencies has supplied him with the truth, why is he no longer talking?”
The group advised the Deputy Speaker to play opposition with decorum, arguing that disparaging the State Governor does not make him more APC than other chieftains of the party.
“Party or no party, there are men and women of character and integrity who are in APC and they abhor this shame you are bringing to their brand in Abia.”
