Roll call in Umuahia as Chukwudi Apugo celebrates 50th birthday

Umuahia, the Abia State capital literally stood still on Sunday, as the Founder and Director, Danijoy International Schools, Hon. Chukwudi Apugo, celebrated his 50th birthday anniversary.

Some of the dignitaries who graced the glamorous ceremony included Governor Alex Otti represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajaegbu; the immediate-past Governor of Abia State, and Ambassador designate, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu; former Leader, ECOWAS Parliament and the Chairman Governing Board, University of Port Harcourt, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa; and former Minister of State for Science, Chief Henry Ikoh.

Others included the Caretaker Committee Secretary of the Labour Party, Senator Darlington Nwokocha; former Deputy Speaker, Abia House of Assembly and presidential aspirant, Dr Cosmos Ndukwe; 2023 governorship candidate of Young Peoples Party, YPP, Chief Enyinnaya Nwafor; and his running mate, Chima Anyaso (Ofuji).

Former lawmakers and ex-Commissioners, politicians from different political divides, captains of industries, as well as friends and associates of the celebrant competed for recognition.

Hon. Apugo who was the immediate -past member representing Umuahia East state constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly, had earlier in the week, empowered 17 youths from his Ibeku Community with N300,000 each.

In his remark at the church service held at Blessed Chapel Int’l, Secretariat Road Umuahia, Gov. Otti described Hon. Apugo as a great achiever.

He said that many of his age mates were still struggling to attain the height he had already attained in the past 50 years.

The Governor who noted that “any time God wants to change the destiny of a people, he sends a man”, further described Apugo as “a man on a mission”.

Otti also noted that the massive transformation being witnessed across Abia State, was a confirmation that God had remembered the state and sent him for a rescue mission.

He urged the people to always have a space for God as no man can achieve anything in life except God is with him.

” When you remove the God factor in the journey of a man he becomes frustrated “, Otti said.

In his goodwill message, ex-Governor Ikpeazu, said he jealousy coveted Apugo’s resilience and enterprising spirit.

He described him as a man of monumental achievements in life, and commended him particularly for investing in education.

Ikpeazu who inaugurated the Akwa Ibom branch of Danijoy International Schools said:” I covet you jealously for what you have achieved so far in life, particularly for establishing Danijoy Schools”.

Speaking also, Senator Ohuabunwa said they came to celebrate the grace of God in the life of Aougo who he described as an exceptional loyalist.

” Chichy is a reliable and consistent friend; he is a man of integrity”, Ohuabunwa testified.

Senator Ohuabunwa praised Apugo for his philosophy about life, and urged him to continue in the fear of God.

Similarly, Chief Ikoh said Apugo had been an humble man who had not allowed his family’s status make him look down on others.

The former Minister said Apugo had distinguished himself in different areas of life.

He commended him for his numerous sacrifices to the advancement of humanity.

Senator Nwokocha said Apugo had made indelible signposts in so many arreas of life.

Earlier in a message, the lead Pastor of Blessed Chapel Int’l Umuahia, Pastor Maduka Nwankwo, said “God blesses us to be a blessing to humanity”.

The cleric urged people to stop complaining about the challenges in society but try to become solutions to the challenges.

He commended Apugo for his many philanthropic gestures which had positively affected many lives.

Pastor Nwankwo particularly lauded Apugo for empathizing with the indigent students in the church who he had always paid their school fees.

” The number of lives you have touched will keep speaking after you”, the cleric declared, while praying God to shower him with more blessings.

The ceremony witnessed thanksgiving session by the family of Aougo who appreciated God for the life of the celebrant.

Highlight of the event was the cutting of the golden jubilee anniversary cake.
