Abia ex-lawmaker, Apugo gifts N300k each to kinsmen to mark 50th birthday

Immediate – past members representing Umuahia East state constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwudi Apugo, has empowered 17 youths from his Umuakaka Ibeku Community with N300,000 each to mark his 50th birthday anniversary.


Some of the beneficiaries were also drawn from Umuchoke and Nkata Afarata Communities.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the former lawmaker said he decided to invest in them as a way to show gratitude to God for his mercies in his life in the past 50 years.



Hon. Apugo who said he decided to empower those with skills or functional businesses, urged the beneficiaries to use the largesse to expand their business.
He said he had resolved not to give money to those who would spend it on drinks and pleasure, but to individuals who have something doing so they could expand their businesses.
The ex-lawmaker urged the beneficiaries to shun cultism, rottery and reckless lifestyle but ensure they are useful to themselves.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, who said that he learnt philanthropy from his father, Prince Benjamin Apugo, noted that the best legacy anybody could leave is positive impacts on fellow human beings.

He stressed the need for unity and peace among the people, and advised the youths against disputes.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Ugochukwu Amos, poured encomiums on the benefactor, describing him as a destiny helper.
Similarly, the Chairman, Umuakaka Nkata Youth Leader, Uche Nmanaso, thanked Hon. Apugo for investing in the youths of the community.
Some of the beneficiaries including Neria George, Uzondu Okechukwu, and Nduka Obinna Peters.
