VC reads riot act on cyber crime as Akpabio unveils Amadeus varsity

The Vice Chancellor, Amadeus University, Amizi, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Professor Samuel Nzotta, has read riot act on cyber crime, cultism, examination malpractice, indecent dressing and other vices on campus, declaring that the instruction has zero tolerance for unethical behaviour.

Professor Nzotta spoke weekend, during the maiden matriculation ceremony of the institution and its formal unveiling by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

He charged the pioneer students of the institution to avoid distractions and take their studies seriously to justify the investment on them by their sponsors.

The VC who said the university was established to provide quality education to its students, identified some of its unique amenities as 250Kw solar farm for constant power supply, efficient internet facilities, and e-learning structures.

According to him, the objective of the university is to produce self-reliant and globally -competitive graduates ready for the 21st-century digital world.

“Amadeus University is founded as a world-class educational institution where research, innovation, and a culture of excellence are emphasised”, the VC said.

Speaking at the event, the Founder, Dr Godwin Nwabunka, who said his vision was to promote quality, described the university as “home for those who think outside the box and seek to make a difference in the world”.

He said his belief that “no challenge is too great, and no dream is impossible to achieve”, propelled him to actualise the vision.

In his speech, the Senate President, Senator Akpabio, lauded the Founder for the vision, noting that any investment in education is an investment in the future of any society.

The Senate President who was represented by former Minister of State for Defense and Senator representing Abia central, Sen. Austin Akobumdu, charged the matriculating students to “think critically, act ethically and make meaningful contributions to the society.”

Senator Akpabio further charged the students not to let their parents down but strive to distinguish themselves academically.

In his remark, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, expressed satisfaction with the quality of facilities at the institution, and commended the Founder for investing in the state.

Otti, who was represented by his Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Uche Eme Uche, sre-assured of his administration’s commitment to supporting investors in the state.

Immediate-past Minister of State for Science and Technology, Chief Henry Ikoh; and former Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, the Chief Medical Director, CMD, Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, Professor Onyebuchi, were among the dignitaries at the event.
