Gen Diya tasks army kids on academic prowess, throws party for barrack children

The Brigade Commander, 14 Brigade Nigerian Army Ohafia, Brigadier General Olusola Diya, has charged the children a Army officers and soldiers to take their studies and education seriously, stressing that “education is the key that opens other doors”.
General Diya who gave the charge during an end -of- the- year party he threw for children at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan barracks, said that children who give undivided attention to their studies always ended big.
He explained that the party was packaged to give the children a sense of belonging as future leaders.
“As future leaders, the need to make them happy today and have positive thinking of who they will become in the nearest future is key and paramount to him”, Gen. Diya said.
He added:” This is a season of celebration and all children no matter the status of their parents, need to come together and celebrate.”
Meanwhile, the fun-packed event featured different contests amongst the children including spelling competition, dance competition, egg race competition, Prince and Princess of 14 Brigade, etc.
The Brigade Commander promised to uphold the annual event as long as he superintended over the affairs of the Brigade.
The atmosphere was filled with fun as children cruise with bouncing castle, micky, barney, father Christmas, dancing, choreography, etc.
The best dressed children both in native and English attires as well as deserving children and parents went home with different prices.
Climax of the ceremony was the crowning of Prince and Princess of 14 Brigade, the first of its kind since the Brigade was established.
