Day Nnewi stood still as Sen Ifeanyi Ubah was buried amid grief

The late Senator representing the Anambra South Senatorial District at the Nation’s National Assembly, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, was buried in his hometown Umuanuka, Otolo Nnewi, in the Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The colourful funeral ceremony took place on Friday November the twenty second, with sympathisers gathered in their large number, to bid the deceased farewell to eternal glory.
Senator Ubah who passed on in the United Kingdom on July the twenty seventh, was aged 52.
Delivering the funeral homily, held at the St Peter Clever Parish Otolo Nnewi, Catholic Bishop of the Ekwulobia Diocese, Rt Reverend Peter Cardinal Ebere Okpaleke, described the life of the deceased Senator Ubah, as a lesson to those alive.
” Those alive should strive to live examplary lifestyles on earth, in order to be remembered when they are gone”.
“His philanthropic lifestyle always strived to touch people’s lives at all times .Ifeanyi Ubah’s life of service to humanity was there for all to emulate” the Clergy added.
The State Governor Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo in his tribute, recalled his last moments with the late Ubah, noting that his death was shocking.
“I remember when we met sometime in May and I asked him it seems he was nursing a political ambition, and he told me that he would want to be part of it.
“We had all these discussions and no one talked of death” the governor added philosophically.
The body of the late Senator Ubah was conveyed to his compound in Nnewi by the Apams funeral, when scores of sympathisers and well wishers perceived to be his dependants who had gathered at the gate, broke down in tears.
It was not surprising to say the least, going by the fact of the deceased being a philanthropist, and one that catered for the indigent ones of his hometown.
The funeral was attended by politicians, including his fellow Senators at the National Assembly.
Some of the dignitaries that graced the burial event includes, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate in 2023, Mr Peter Obi, a former governor of the State, Dr Chris Ngige, Senator Victor Umeh, Senator Kelvin Chukwu, Senator Osita Izunaso, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Olisa Metuh among other dignitaries.
