Abia ex-lawmaker gets German appointment

The immediate-past member of the Abia State House of Assembly representing Aba South constituency, Hon. Obinna Ichita, has been appointed as the Country Director/Principal Representative of the German Initiative for Knowledge Transfer eV, in Nigeria.

His appointment which took effect from January 8, 2024, was contained in a statement issued by the Board Secretary of the body, Daniel John Ferris.

The statement sighted by Wawa News Global  read:”It is my pleasure to announce that approval has been granted for the appointment Hon. Obinna Ichita, as the Country Director/ Principal Representative of the German Initiative for Knowledge Transfer eV in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Obinna Ichita was trained in Nigeria, Germany and England. We are confident that his tacit knowledge will enhance the attainment of the objectives of our organization in Nigeria.

“The new Country Director will in partnership with the relevant authorities, stakeholders and our development partners in the host country, coordinate and direct all the activities of our agency with a view to achieving our Aid and Development agenda in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“This appointment takes effect from 08.01.2023. The relevant authorities have been notified of this development.”

Meanwhile, Hon. Ichita who was the Abia State deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the 2023 poll, in a release, expressed his delight over the appointment.

He thanked individuals and corporate organisations that had a hand in his nomination for the job and promised to discharge his responsibilities diligently.

The ex-lawmaker who represented Aba South constituency from 2019 to 2023, said that Nigeria would benefit immensely from the initiative in the areas of agriculture, Information Technology, Science and Mathematics, Hydro Carbon, Engineering and Artificial intelligence, amongst others.
