Abia PDP trashes Omerekpe for insulting party leadership
By Steve Oko
The leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State, has descended heavily on one of its governorship aspirants, Chief Ncheta Omerekpe over his allegedly uncomplimentary remarks on the State leadership of the party.

PDP Acting Publicity Secretary and Vice Chairman Abia North, Elder Abraham Amah, in a press statement dismissed Omerekpe as an empty political light feather who resorted to disparaging the party hierarchy for not endorsing his governorship ambition.
Below is a full text of the statement made available to Wawa News Global:
“After all said and done, Abia PDP is happy that it has been vindicated on the status of one Elvis Ncheta Omerekpe which was first noticed on the day he appeared before the Abia PDP State Working Committee, SWC, that screened aspirants for all the elective positions including the exalted position of governor of Abia State which Omerekpe out of his inspiration from wishful thinking, thought he could vie for.
” Omerekpe went overboard in his rabid display of rescaling, indecency, ignorance and discourtesy to describe the Abia PDP Chairman, Rt. Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere, PhD, and Abia North Zonal Chairman and Acting State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Elder Abraham Amah, two frontline officers of the Abia PDP in unprintable names. Omerekpe has by his descent to the use of such words as swindler and tout shown that the one who resorts to name calling as he did, is certainly the one that has lost the argument.
“Abia PDP would not dignify Omerekpe with any response because it is clear that he has no locus to attack and for the last time would rather use the opportunity to educate Abians further on the personality of the unknown quantity Elvis Ncheta Omerekpe, whose highest credential is “former governorship aspirant” in Abia State.
“A sane individual who was challenged to provide his educational qualification would ordinarily mention his alma mater and year of graduation rather than hide under the cover of having been screened for an elective position. Goes further to prove that Abia PDP was right when it said that Omerekpe is not known to be an alumni of any known university in the world.
“Elvis Ncheta Omerekpe has never and would never be a benefactor to Rt. Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere and Hon. Elder Abraham Amah and would never be so in his entire lifetime and should therefore perish the thought that one or both men have ever received any favour from him. While Rt. Hon. Alwell Okere is an accomplished academic with an earned doctorate degree from a known university, he has occupied the highest legislative office as the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and is currently serving as the State Party Chairman, feats Ncheta Omerekpe would never dream of, much less aspire to achieve.
“Regarding, Hon. Elder Abraham Amah, it is clear that Omerekpe has no inkling who he is talking about. Hon. Elder Abraham is a graduate of the University of Lagos and holds an MBA from the prestigious University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. He is still on the record as the youngest State Chairman of a political Party in Nigeria at the age of 26 and subsequently won election to represent Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly in 1997 and was billed to become the Speaker of the State House of Assembly before the demise of Gen. Abacha which led to the end of that political experiment.
“Furthermore, Hon. Amah has served Abia State in different capacities including as adviser to the three democratically elected governors of Abia State and as Chairman of Arochukwu Local Government Area. Amah would certainly not condescend to the level of comparing himself with Omerekpe whose only political exploit is his shipwrecked voyage of Abia 2023 governorship aspiration.
“The good people of Ihechiowa where Hon. Elder Abraham Amah comes from have honoured him with several chieftaincy titles including as Ikoro Ukwu of Ihechiowa even as the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, PCN, ordained him as a ruling Elder of the Church, testimonies to his integrity, character and high regard the community and Church have for him.
“For the upteempth time, Abia PDP wishes to reiterate that Elvis Ncheta Omerekpe is not a member of the Abia PDP 2023 Campaign Council as his mental status does not befit such a position. It is also a part of his haemorrhaging mental disposition to imagine that the Abia PDP would accept any donations from him to prosecute the gubernatorial ambition of Prof. Uche Ikonne.
“As Omerekpe continues to wallow in his confirmed ignorance, we call on the good people of Isiala Ngwa where he comes from, the good people of Abia State to totally disregard the mendacious choruses he sings every now and then just to purchase undeserved popularity.
“It is clear to Abians that the Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu administration has delivered the dividends of democracy to Abians in the last seven years and the likes of deranged persons like Elvis Omerekpe cannot by any stretch of imagination tell a different story from what the people can see and feel. Their efforts have been and would continue to remain futile.
“Ahead of the 2023 general election, we call on the PDP faithful and all Abians to trust in the ability of the leadership of the Abia PDP and the government to continue to deliver on its promises in the remaining days of this administration and also urge them to vote the candidacy of Prof. Uche Ikonne and his running mate Barr. Okey Igwe as the next governor of Abia State to enable them continue with the good works of the PDP.
