Associating Ohuabunwa with thuggery ridiculous, diversionary – Campaign council
By Steve Oko
The Campaign Council of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, has dissociated him with insecurity and thuggery in Abia North.
It described as “ridiculous and petty the futile attempt by some desperate political opponents” to link the former Leader, ECOWAS Parliament with perpetrators of insecurity in Abia North.”

Wawa News Global reports that the Council was reacting to a media report linking the former Leader, House of Representatives with an alleged cult group in Ohafia.
The Council in a press release signed by its Deputy Secretary, Mr Austin Mbaka, a lawyer, advised those behind the evil machination to think of a better strategy as the sponsors and perpetrators of insecurity in the zone know themselves.
The Council which was reacting to a social media report that the Senator was sponsoring a thug allegedly behind insecurity in Ohafia, said it was an irony and politics taken too far for anyone to contemplate of associating “a clean man with agents of darkness”.
It further said that “those who felt threatened by the rising popularity and the swelling support for Ohuabunwa across Abia North, are desperately looking for a way to launch a smear campaign against him but they need to recast their lame script”.
The Council noted that it was not unexpected that “forces of evil which are not comfortable with the vocality and tough stance of Senator Ohuabunwa against insecurity in Abia North would look for a way to distract him”.
According to the release, ” the said report was not only fake but mischievously planted to distract Ohuabunwa and the good people of Abia North whose focus is how to recover their stolen mandate, and restore the dignity of the zone”.
It read in part:”The attention of Follow Better Organization and Senator Mao Ohuabunwa Campaign Council has been drawn to the fake news on the mischievous and misleading report of purported arrest of certain people acclaimed to be thugs allegedly sponsored by Distinguished Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.
“First of all, there was no such arrest of any member of Senator Ohuabunwa’s team or esteemed Campaign Council.
“Ohuabunwa as a consummate gentleman and a distinguished Senator of high repute who neither encourages nor entertains thuggery.
“It is very ironic and laughable to see those whose modus and style of politics have perennially been embedded in savagery and idolatry desperately striving to drag decent Senator Mao Ohuabunwa to their low ebb.
” Unfortunately, their evil machinations will never work. It is instructive to recall that about this period during the last general electioneering cycle the same desperados came up with all sorts of fake news and false propaganda.
“At some point a certain palatial home in some unknown location and falsely ascribed to Senator Mao Ohuabunwa was posted online. Regrettably that malicious move backfired just as this latest campaign will!”
The Council urged members of the public to discountenance the said fake news, while threatening legal action against the purveyors if they fail to retract the mischievous report.
