Bishop Onuoha’s adoption as consensus guber candidate for Abia North, scam – Group

A group known as Abia Crusaders, has dismissed the adoption of the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Bishop Sunday Onuoha, as the Abia North consensus candidate for the 2023 Abia governorship poll as a scam.

The group in a statement signed by its Chairman, Chief Mbaronye Obialor, said that stakeholders in Abia North were not consulted by the those behind the “purported adoption”, hence, it holds no water.

Abia Crusaders which accused those that made the adoption of working for their stomach, urged members of the public to disregard the ” purported adoption”, adding that very soon, the authentic governorship candidate of the zone would be properly unveiled.

The purported endorsement of Bishop Sunday Onuoha as consensus governorship candidate of Abia North for the 2023 general election by a single individual in the person of Dr Uduma Nnate is nothing but political fraud taken to ridiculous dimensions.

Below is a full text of the statement by Abia Crusaders made available to Wawa News Global:

“Sequel to the confusion created by the publication our organization embarked on extensive consultation with critical stakeholders, prominent elders, groups and peoples of Abia North and subsequently wish to make the following clarifications;

“That the purported selection of Bishop Sunday Onuoha as a consensus governorship candidate for Abia North is a personal and solo concoction of Dr Uduma Nnate since it doesn’t represent the general opinions and aspirations of the peoples of the five Local Government Councils that make up the region.

“That the processes leading to the selection and announcement of the purported consensus candidate was lacking in transparency, probity and accountability since Dr Nnate freely canvassed for monetary and other forms of inducement as precondition for the endorsement.

“That in arriving at this decision Dr Nnate selfishly adopted the market principles of cash and carry while selling to the highest bidder, as his main persuasion and major consideration.

“That we join other well meaning stakeholders of Abia North in condemning this ego-centric political scam by Dr Nnate capable of promoting strife and unhealthy rivalry among the body politic, and ultimately truncating the bid to give God’s Own State the best, most equipped and sufficiently prepared candidate.

“We, therefore, enjoin the peace and equity loving people of Abia to remain calm as a league of renowned elders of Abia North will soon make public the choice of Prof Gregory Ibe as consensus governorship candidate for the region.”
