Abia central seat: Wachuku commends Ikwuano youths, women for endorsing power shift to Umunneato
By Steve Oko
Former Director General, National Directorate of Employment, NDE, Chief Chuku Wachuku, has commended the people of Ikwuano for their vehement support for the Umuahia Central senatotrial seat to rotate back to Umunneato.
Chuku Wachuku
Wawa News Global reports that the senatorial candidate of the Young Peoples Party, YPP, who made the commendation when he received in audience a  group of Ikwuano Youths and women who visited him in his Mbawsi country home, said that the rotation arrangement should be respected by all parties.
He argued that “equity demands”  that Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area which is the only LGA to take a shot at the senatorial seat should be allowed to produce the next Senator for Abia Central in 2023.
Chief Wachuku recalled that Isiala Ngwa South first took its turn in 1999 when Senator Bob Nwannunu emerged, after which Senator Chris Adighijeh from Ikwuano/Umuahia divide took over in 2003.
He said that when the seat returned to Umunneato clan, Senator Nkechi Nwogu from Osisioma took a shot at the seat before it rotated back to Ikwuano/Umuahia divide when the incumbent Senator Theodore Orji emerged
Chief Wachuku argued that naturally and for the sake of equity and justice, Isiala Ngwa North, which is the only Umunneato clan yet to take a shot at the seat should be allowed to produce the next occupant of the seat in 2023.
He, therefore, thanked Ikwuano people for supporting power shift to Umunneato in line with the prevailing zoning arrangement in the district.
“I thank my dear brothers and Sisters in Ikwuano for joining their brothers in Umuahia North & Umuahia South to declare that the Senate Seat should rotate back to Umunneato, 2023 based on Equity”.
He described Abia Central as THE HEART BEAT OF Abia State, insisting that the unity that had existed amongst the Zone should not be traded for Personal ambition nor for Selfish Interests.
Chief Wachuku promised that after his tenure, he would help to ensure the return of the seat to Ikwuano/Umuahia clan
Chief Wachuku also used the occasion to celebrate the people of Ikwuano for having the vision to hold these positions currently as:
APC candidate for Senate- Ikwuano
The Small and Medium Enterprise, SME, expert who also promised to help transfer power to the younger generation, said he would leverage on his position to facilitate the empowerment of the whole family.
He frowned at the attitude of some politicans who give out tricycle and motorcycles to some youths in the name of youth empowerment, saying that such ugly development should be discouraged.
According to him, real empowerment is to help people acquire vocations and skills that would make them job creators and not job seekers.
