Focus on issue-based campaigns, Ogede urges parties

The immediate past Vice Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Evangelist Parkins Ogede has advised Political Parties in the country to anchor their campaigns on issues in order to canvas for votes for their candidates.
Evangelist Parkins Ogede gave the advice while exchanging views with newsmen at his Azikoro residence in Yenagoa.

The immediate past Vice Chairman, Evangelist Parkins Ogede stated that political campaigns provide avenue for political parties to present to the electorate programmes and policies they intend to implement when elected into office.

He enjoined leaders of political parties and their candidates not to use compaigns as platforms to smear the image of their opponents and cause crises that will overheat the polity.

Evangelist Parkins Ogede tasked political leaders to be mindful of unguided utterances capable of inciting their followers to cause mayhem, rather be civil and make statements that will integrate the state and the country.

He advised aggrieved politicians who are not happy with the outcome of the last party’ primaries to take advantage of the reconciliatory efforts made by Governor Douye Diri to appease every body and focus on how to win the 2023 general election for the PDP from the state to the national level.

Wawa News Global reports that Evangelist Parkins Ogede appealed to party members to avoid actions during campaigns that will preciipitate crises in the communities.

The former Vice Chairman enjoined every citizen to participate actively in the process of selecting credible leaders of their choice that will govern the country at different levels noting that with the introduction of BVAS and other reforms by INEC every vote will count.

He commended Governor Douye Diri and his deputy Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for the inclusive governance style that have brought peace and sense of belonging in the state.
