Why 2023 Abia North senatotrial poll ‘ll be walkover for Ohuabunwa – Ikpeazu’s aide

The 2023 senatotrial election in Abia North has been predicted to be a walkover for the candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.
Special Adviser to Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, Dr Isaac Nkole, who made the prediction in a chat with Wawa News Global, said the abysmal performance of National Assembly members in the zone had made “the clamour for a seasoned and tested Parliamentarian like Ohuabunwa very imperative.”
He said that since the exit of Ohuabunwa from the red chamber in 2019 , Abia North has almost gone voiceless at the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
Dr Nkole said that Abia North had learnt in a hard way the mistake of 2019 which would never be repeated.
” Abia North has learnt how not to destroy our own champion. The consequences of the sabotage of 2019 against our champion are weighing heavily on everybody.
” Abia North has become comic relief at the Senate. We have a Senator busy promoting Muslim-Muslim ticket and Northern presidency but cares less about the daily Kidnappings in Umunneochi and Isuikwuato axis.
” We have a Senator who has not done anything to save his constituents from the misery of the cattle market he brought to Lokpanta. We want to know what our Senator who is a principal Officer of the Senate has done to curb the rising insecurity in Abia North.
” How can we continue to be represented by somebody who does not bother if we survive or get kidnapped by bandits but only remembers us when he needs our votes? The other day one of his aides said on air the we should hold the Governor responsible for security forgetting that his party is in power at the centre and that the security agencies do not take orders from the Governor but Mr President. Has he ever raised a motion on the floor of the Senate concerning the menace of herdsmen and festering insecurity in Abia North?
” For the first time in our history, bandists now have the temerity to block the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway way at Abia North axis and drag people to the bush and collect millions of Naira from them as ransom while those who couldn’t pay get killed.”
” Our people no longer go to farm for fear of Fulani herdsmen and bandits because somebody said he brought ‘RUGA’ to Lokpanta. Now that the ‘dividends’ of his ‘RUGA’ have become toxic he has gone mute.”
Nkole said that “Abia North youths, men and women from Umunneochi to Isuikwuato, Bende to Ohafia, and to Arochukwu, have made up their minds to restore their stolen mandate to the man who is naturally endowed in the art of lawmaking.”
He described Senator Ohuabunwa who represented Abia North at the eight senate as the man who has the magic wand to reverse the political woes of the zone and restore its lost glory.
According to him, the former Leader ECOWAS Parliament is a seasoned Parliamentarian with proven track records in lawmaking both at the House of Representatives from where he rose as the Leader of the House and ECOWAS Parliament; and Senate where he distinguished himself with quality Bills.
“Forget party sentiments, everybody agrees that Senator Ohuabunwa’s legislative acumen is unmatchable. Why at the Senate, his colleagues made him DG Amendment because they knew he is astute and thorough in lawmaking”.
He said that the people of Abia North were waiting anxiously to return Senator Ohuabunwa to the Senate for quality and better representation.
” Abia North which has produced vocal senators like the late Senator Uche Chukwumerije; Gen. Ike Nwachukwu; and Sen Ohuabunwa, cannot suddenly be relegated to the background. We can’t take this anymore. The era of blind politics is over. Our people are wiser now.
” Building one kilometer feeder road in few communities cannot be used to blind our people. Look at the Uzuakoli-Isuikwuato-Ohafia road which somebody was given contract to do in 2018, now it is almost impassable yet he hasn’t done anything. Bende Ohafia Arochukwu Road attracted by Sen. Ohuabunwa has almost been abandoned yet we have a sitting Senator.”
” That’s why we will send Senator Ohuabunwa back to the Senate to continue from where he stopped and salvage the sorry-situation. So, the forthcoming senatotrial election in Abia North will be a walkover for Ohuabunwa because the people are regretting the mistake of 2019″.
