Abia: Ehiemere petitions IGP over alleged invasion of APGA office by Ukaegbu

The Abia State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police against a former Chairman of the party, Prince Nnanna Ukaegbu, over alleged invasion of the party secretariat.

This was contained in a press release personally issued by Ehiemere and made available to Wawa News Global on Thursday in Umuahia.
According to the release Ukaegbu whose tenure expired since 2014, allegedly stormed the party secretariat on Tuesday with thugs and forcefully gained entry into the office.
According to the release, “some party valuables, including computer sets, generator, television sets, vital documents and some reasonable amount of money kept in the office by Rev. Augustine Ehiemere” got missing after the invasion.
The release dismissed Ukaegbu as an impostor recruited by undemocratic forces threatened by the growing popularity of APGA and its candidates for the 2023 polls to distract and possibly destabilize the party.

It urged party faithful and supporters to remain calm and resolute in their support for the party under the leadership of Ehiemere, assuring that the law will soon catch up with Ukaegbu and his sponsors.
“We enjoin all APGA faithful in Abia State to remain calm as the imposter will be visited by the laws of the land as nobody is above the law.”
Ehiemere also enjoined “all good-spirited Abians and party loyalists not to dispair by the evil activities of the impostor which are the handiwork of enemies of the party who are working very hard to distract the party in its course to win the forthcoming 2023 elections in Abia State.”
Ukaegbu had claimed that he was at the party secretariat to enforce the judgement of Owerri Appeal Court which restored him as the party Chairman.
He said he had come to rescue the party, claiming that he is now in charge.
But Ehiemere said there was no way Ukaegbu would be allowed to hijack the leadership of the party, eight years after his tenure expired, thus paving the way for two separate conventions of the party that produced new leaderships.
He further said that ever since then, Ukaegbu had not been participating in the party activities but had instead been hobnobbing with those holding the state down.
The party had in an earlier statement signed jointly by the Secretary, Ambassador Sunday Onukwubiri; and Legal Adviser Chukwuemeka Nwokoro, disowned Ukaegbu who it accused of working in cahoots with anti-democratic forces to destabilize APGA.
The party pledged loyalty for Ehiemere as its authentic State Chairman; and Professor Greg Ibe as the governorship candidate.
