Keep hope alive, your misery ‘ll soon be over, Greg Ibe tells Abians @ 31By Steve OkoAs Abia State marks its 31st anniversary today, August 27, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Professor Greg Ibe, has urged Abians to keep hope alive, declaring the their misery will soon end.The Professor of Entrepreneur who stated this in his goodwill message, made available to Wawa News Global, felicitated people of the state who he described as highly enterprising and heavily endowed.Professor Ibe, however, decried leadership failure in the state which he said had been the reason Abia had not recorded any significant achievement since its creation 31 years ago.He recalled with nostalgia the patriotic jubilation that heralded the declaration of the segregation of Abia from the old Imo state by the then Head of state Gen. Ibrahim Babangida on 27 August 1991.“I recall with nostalgia that it was the year 1991 and there was a lot of jubilation and rejoicing when the then Head of State Gen. Ibrahim Babangida announced the creation of Abia State on 27 August. It was such a heart cheering news that immediately stimulated patriotic hope in everyone that hailed from the Abia divide and envy from others.“As a young man in my twenties then, it was a symbolic year for me because God had so blessed my endeavors early in life that I decided to establish Gregory Iyke Foundation that very year, as a platform to execute social intervention programmes in the spirit of giving back to the society”.Answering a question while featuring on a virtual radio programme, Prof Ibe contended that the state has so far experienced seasons of stunted growth in critical sectors of development because of visionless leadership.According to him the low level of infrastructural development in the state does not corroborate the age of the state insisting that “Abia doesn’t look like a thirty one year old entity”.” It is however unfortunate that Abia has so far experienced stunted growth due largely to bad and visionless leadership. One only needs to consider the level of social and infrastructural development in a younger state like Ebonyi to realize that Abia doesn’t look like a thirty one year-old entity”.The APGA governorship candidate enjoined Abians to “change the ugly narrative through the ballot in the 2023 general election by voting for only credible, competent and vastly experienced candidates, promising to champion the emergence of a new Abia with limitless possibilities if elected governor.”He therefore encouraged NdiAbia to keep hope alive by praying and working for the emergence of the Abia of our collective aspiration.
