Ohafia can’t deny projects by Sen Ohuabunwa, PDP stalwart replies group

A stalwart of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia North, Mr Aladdin Ukoha, has said that no part of Abia North including Ohafia Local Government Area, will deny the presence of projects attracted by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, while he was in the Senate.

Senator Ohuabunwa represented Abia North in the eight senate but lost his return bid to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Ukoha who is also from Ohafia, was reacting to a media publication by a group known as

“Ohafia Youths Peace Initiative” which claimed that no community in Ohafia benefited from any project by Senator Ohuabunwa all through his stay at the National Assembly.

Deputy Director General, of the said group, one Prince Samuel Uduma, had in a statement, accused Ohuabunwa of “not executing a single project in the council area after spending eight years in the House of Representatives and four years as a Senator”, vowing to “politically retire him in 2023”.

But Ukoha dismised the allegations by the “paid group” as a malicious blackmail to bias voters against Senator Ohuabunwa ahead of the 2023 Abia North senatorial race “where he is a leading flag bearer”.

He said the allegation was fraught with lies which could not stand or be sustained in the face of verifiable facts.

According to him there are incontrovertible proofs of Senator Ohuabunwa’s achievements and projects in communites across Abia North including Ohafia.

He identified some of the projects attracted by Ohuabunwa in Ohafia LGA in particular to include: Construction of classroom blocks at Okon-aku, Ohafia; Elu Ohafia water scheme projects including generating set; and donation of modern health medical Ambulance to Ohafia LGA.

Others include: rural electrification project to boost power supply at Amaekpu Ohafia; modern public convinnence at Ebem motor park and Elughu Nkporo; provision of hospital equipment at Amamba and Amaogudu, Abiriba; renovation of 9- classroom blocks at Eluama Nkporo, among others.

He also said that Senator Ohuabunwa revitalized Eluama Nkporo Primary healthcare; and played a key role in the rehabilitation of Ohafia-Arochukwu federal road which had commenced in earnest before he left office, and had since slowed down.

Ukoha further explained that apart from the above mentioned projects Senator Ohuabunwa assisted in securing job opportunities and key federal appointments for Ohafia indigenes.

He added that there is no LGA in Abia North that does not have at least three Primary HealthCare Centres attracted by Sen. Ohuabunwa.

On the claims that Ohuabunwa gave out frying pans as empowerment tools to people, Nkole said anybody spreading such rumour “is only being unfair and mischievous”.

He explained that while Senator Mao was giving out empowerment items to constituents who acquired skills in different vocations, mischief makers took a photo of where he was handing over fry pan to a woman who trained in confectionery.

” Let me set the records clear: The wrong narrative that Senator Ohuabunwa gave frying pans as empowerment tools was the handiwork of mischief makers.

” The mischief maker behind the malicious rumour deliberately did not capture the cooking gas and the N50,000 cash plus other items given to each of the beneficiaries. He only wanted to blackmail the Senator but the truth cannot be hidden. The beneficiaries knew they also got these other items I mentioned”.

Ukoha said that no amount of blackmail would stop Abia North from returning Ohuabunwa to the red chamber in 2023, declaring that the zone is “tired of being voiceless.”

” We know where all these are coming from and why. The people jittery of Follow Better (Ohuabunwa) are behind all these but Abia North is resolute in its avowed resolve to end the era of voicelesnes at the Senate.

” Abia North will again have a voice and stop being a comic relief at the Senate in 2023 when Ohuabunwa shall be returning to the red chamber. That is why those who feel threatened having realised that their retirement is imminent are busy sponsoring all these propaganda against an innocent man but they are coming too late because Abia North already knows better”.

” How can we be represented by someone who is busy proposing and promoting Muslim/Muslim ticket, RUGA and Northern presidency but haven’t uttered a word over the incessant kidnappings by herdsmen in Umunneochi and other parts of Abia North? This error must stop in 2023!”
