Abia deputy gov hails Bishop Ugorji over his installation as Archbishop

Deputy Governor of Abia State, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, has congratulated the new Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Diocese, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr Lucius Ugorji.
Archbishop Ujorji was yesterday, handed the Pastoral Staff and installed as the second Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese by the Papal Designate, Archbishop Antonio Guido Fillipazzi.
The Deputy Governor expressed delight at the elevation of His Grace Ugorji as the new Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese, describing it as a joy and pride to the Umuahia Catholic Diocese and the state at large having performed a greater number of years in Umuahia as a priest.
Sir Oko Chukwu appreciated the Umuahia Diocese and entire Parishioners for standing solidly behind the Archbishop in his Episcopal Ministry in the Diocese of Umuahia and prayed God to continue to bless and guide him in his new calling as the Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese and Metropolitan of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province.

In his homily, the Papal Nuncio to Nigeria,The Archbishop Antonio Guido Fillipazzi said Apostolic succession should not be seen only as a joyful occasion, but a manifestation of the mystery of the Church while Christian preaching should be devoid of personal ethos, but that of Christ and propagation of the Gospel.
The Archbishop Fillipazzi charged religious leaders to speak against societal ills without fear and always proclaim the Gospel of Christ and God’s commandments like St John the Baptist who paid with his life when he preached against adultery and other ills.
The Papal Nuncio to Nigeria while congratulating The Most Rev Dr Lucius Ugorji on his Installation enjoined him to fully instruct the Clergy and Parishioners of Owerri Archdiocese in love and teachings of the Lord to enable them flourish under his care and further urged the Laity and Parishioners to accept and relate well with their new Archbishop as well as pray more for him, the Church and Nation.
In his remarks, the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma congratulated the new Archbishop on his Installation describing him as eminently qualified for the exalted position especially at this challenging times of the Nation and prayed that he will surpass the achievements of his predecessor with his wealth of experience and pedigree.
Responding, the newly Installed Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese, The Most Rev Dr Lucius Ugorji thanked God for granting him the golden opportunity to serve the Church in different capacities as well as the Pope Francis for appointing him as the Archbishop and promised to work in unity of purpose to propagate the Gospel of Christ, win souls for God and transform the society with gospel values.
