After dumping PDP, pioneer NDE boss, Wachuku emerges YPP senatorial candidate for Abia central

Barely two weeks after dumping the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over non compliance with due process and internal democracy in the build up to party’s primaries, the pioneer Director General of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, Chief Chuku Wachuku, has emerged the candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, for Abia Central senatorial zone in 2023.
Wachuku emerged unopposed at the YPP’s primary conducted at Unique Life Hotel along Secretariat Road, Ogurube Layout, Umuahia after polling a total of 176 votes.




Declaring him the winner and the flag bearer at an exercise witnessed by INEC Officials, YPP Officials, Delegates and party faithful, the
The Returning Officer, Enemanna Echefulachi, who declared him winner of the contest, said:”Having satisfied the requirements and polled a total of 176 votes, he stands elected as the party’s flag bearer.”
In a remark, the Zonal Chairman of YPP, Chiozoadighi Chinasom said that the party would sweep the poll in 2023 considering the quality of its flag bearers who had proven their mettles in different spheres of life.
He congratulated Chief Wachuku for emerging the flag bearer for Abia Central Senatorial District, describing him as a man of high intellectual capacity and intimidating qualifications and connections needed to deliver.
The Zonal Chairman thanked the delegates for their massive support, and urged them to sustain their support for the party.









The peaceful exercise was witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, YPP officials, delegates and party faithful.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Wachuku, thanked the Acting YPP Zonal Chairman, Party Executives, Ward Chairmen, Delegates, the Returning Officer, INEC officials, security operatives among others for the peaceful conduct of the primary.
He promised to create jobs, family economic empowerment programme if eventually voted to represent the zone.
The former PDP chieftain, charged them not to be afraid again, assuring that his presence in the party will bring in more eminent Abians to follow suit.
Chief Wachuku expressed optimism that the YPP in the State will elect the next Governor and Senator to represent the zone, pledging that when he becomes their representative, all will smile as they have suffered these past years.
He charged them to deliver a message to other political parties in the State saying that the era of electing serial contestants to continue representing the zone is over.
Chief Wachuku also promised to create wealth through jobs, adding that he will bring his thick wealth of experience to bear as he will ensure that 1000 people from Abia Central Senatorial zone will be trained each year to own their business.
He said that PDP had lost grip in the zone because of impunity, boasting that YPP will produce the Senator for Abia Central come 2023.
