Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has thanked PDP, delegates at the just-concluded senatorial primary of the party where he emerged the PDP candidate for the 2023 senatorial poll.
The former Leader ECOWAS Parliament, in a statement he personally signed and issued on Monday, appreciated the delegates for reposing confidence in him, and promised not to disappoint them and the people of Abia North.

“It is with great pleasure and joy that I humbly acknowledge and appreciate your unequivocal support and commitment for our political party to take back the Senatorial Seat of the Abia North District come 2023.
“We went through extensive consultations to sensitize our party members by presenting our resume, reemphasizing our character and assuring you all of our tenacity and seriousness to make our great party and the good people of Abia North proud when we regain our Senatorial Mandate come 2023 General Elections.”
The former Senate Committee Chairman on Primary Health Care and Communicable Disease congratulated those who contested with him for their courage and dexterity, urging them to support him.

He also pleaded with those two felt offended against him for any reason to forgive him so that the party could forge ahead.
“Be that as it may, I respectfully plead with those who may have had misgivings in one way or the other to, please forgive, in our larger collective interest so that we can jointly forge ahead for the main contest to realize our desired deserved objective.
“We need the unity of all to achieve victory. And whichever way we see it, this past PDP Senatorial Primary was an intra party (in-house) family affair to choose a flag bearer. We should therefore see it as a friendly contest no matter what. It is a win for our Party and we should as such not harbor any ill intentions or ill will.
“Without restraint, I also use this opportunity to thank all critical Stakeholders, resolute PDP Executives, Delegates and the wonderful people of Abia North for an encouraging outing.
“Nothing and No One is perfect. I am urging everyone of us to join hands as we move to attain victory.”
Similarly, Senator Ohuabunwa’s campaign organisation, the Follow Better Campaign Organisation, has described his emergence as a good omen for Abia North.
The Organization in a statement signed by its Director General, DG, Dr Ndubuisi Eke, described Ohuabunwa’s emergence as the resurrection of hope for Abia North which according to it, has been relegated to the background in the political equilibrum of the country since 2019 when he exited the Senate.
Follow Better Campaign Organisation commended the PDP delegates for not allowing sentiments or pressure to becloud their sense of judgement at the primaries but voting wisely according to their conscience.
The Organization assured Abia North that with the emergence of Ohuabunwa as the PDP flag bearer for the 2023 senatorial poll, victory is guaranteed for the PDP.
Recalling the legendary achievements of Senator Ohuabunwa at the eight senate, ECOWAS Parliament and at the House of Representatives respectively where he proved his mettle as a seasoned parliamentarian, the Follow Better Organisation, said Abia North would return to political reckoning in 2023 as Ohuabunwa returns to the red chamber.
” With Senator Ohuabunwa at the Senate, the voice of Abia North will again be heard”, the statement said.
Follow Better Campaign Organisation also commended all those who contested with him at the primaries, and urged them to close ranks with him in the overall interest of the zone.
It also called on all PDP members in Abia North to unite behind him and give him the needed massive support for total victory at the poll.
Follow Better Campaign Organisation, promised to mobilise electorates in the entire Abia North district for him at the forthcoming senatorial election, vowing that “the mistake of 2019” will not be repeated.
