Atiku floors Wike, Saraki, others to pick PDP 2023 presidential ticket

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has floored Gov. Nyesom Wike and other contestants to emerge the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

Atiku who emerged at the PDP special convention Saturday in Abuja, polled 371 votes to win his closest rival, Gov. Nyesom Wike, who secured 237 votes.

Forner Senate President, Bukola Saraki came a distant third with 70 votes while Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State came fourth with 38 votes.

Gov. Bola Mohammed of Gombe State came fifth with 20 votes while the former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim secured 14 votes.

According to the Chairman of the Election Committee, Senator David Mark who declared the results, the total vote cast was 763 votes.

Total valid votes were 781 while voided votes

Atiku pledged to unify Nigeria, saying he is the unifier.

Said the APC-led Government had divided Nigeria, and pledged to restore the economy of the country.

We will revise all the misgovernance of APC Government.

Pledged to work together with his opponents and give them a sense of belonging.

Appealed to all aggrieved members of the party to return and help to rebuild the party.
