It’s insensitivity for parties to hold rallies in S’East while bandits ‘re on the prowl – IPOB
* Ask APC to shelve planned Umuahia rally
*As APC denies any plans for rally

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has warmed political parties against holding rallies while bandits are on the prowl in South East.
IPOB specifically warned the Chief Ikechi Emenike-backed APC to shelve its alleged rally today (Friday) at the Chidiebere Park in Umuahia, following the recent abduction of seven passengers by suspected herdsmen along Uturu/ Okigwe road.
The pro-Biafra movement accused the political elite of insensitivity over the plight of the masses, while giving undue attention to their 2023 ambition.
This is coming barely 24 hours after youths in Uturu community stagged a protest against incessant kidnappings along Uturu/ Okigwe axis.
The protesters blocked the Uturu/ Okigwe highway and also marched to the entrance gate of the Abia State University Uturu where they were addressed by the university Management.
They expressed rage that despite multiple security checkpoints on the road, herdsmen and bandits had continued to operate unchallenged.
About seven passengers traveling to Uturu were reportedly kidnapped by bandits on Monday.
According to the protesting youths, their abductors are demanding a ransom of N10 million each from the victims’ family members.
Meanwhile, IPOB said that politicians are not doing enough to confront the bandits making South East unsafe.
A release signed by IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful read in part:”We want to advise Chief Ikechi Emenike and his APC people not to hold any political rally in Umuahia tomorrow, Friday May 20, 2022, while they kept quiet and did nothing when Fulani bandits kidnapped passengers including female students along Okigwe/ Uturu road.
“We cannot allow Emenike and his APC co-travellers to be dancing and singing at Chidiebere Park while our daughters are still in captivity.
“It is hypocrisy for the political elite to show no concern about the plights of our people who they claim to be seeking their welfare. It is wickedness for Emenike and his co-travellers to keep mute and do nothing about the incessant abductions of Igbo sons and daughters by Fulani herdsmen around Uturu and its environs. Ikechi Emenike should keep away from Chidiebere Park Umuahia tomorrow.
“We won’t allow APC and other political parties to continue to hold their rallies in our land while Fulani bandits operate with impunity, Kidnapping, and rapping our people, yet the politicians do nothing about it. All they care about is 2023. Enough is enough!
“Fulani bandits are holding Igbo girls and are demanding N10 million as ransom per person, Emenike and for APC to be dancing at a rally when the families of the victims are in painful mood. He should not dare us.”
When contacted, APC Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, said the party had no rally and did not send notice for any rally.
” We have no rally today in Umuahia. It could be the other people who are calling themselves factions. We don’t have factions in Abia APC.”
