I ‘ll be truthful, accountable to Abians – Ude Oko Chukwu
* Urges PDP delegates to vote wisely

The Deputy Governor and major contestant for the Proples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship ticket in the 2023 poll, Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, has promised to be transparent and accountable to Abians if voted into power.
Oko Chukwu who is a Chartered Accountant by profession, made the promise while addressing PDP delegates and stakeholders at Arochukwu and Ohafia Local Government Areas when he went to consult with them.
He identified truthfulness, sincerity of purpose, transparency and accountability as essential ingredients of governace which he vowed to bring to bear if elected Governor.
The former Speaker, Abia House of Assembly said the visit was a wake up call to reposition and change the ugly narratives of lack of development in the two LGAs and entire Abia North, said he would use his wealth of experience to entrench good governance and move the zone and entire Abia State to more enviable heights.
He said that he decided to join the governorship race after serious consultations with family members, various party stakeholders, friends and associates as well as his firm conviction, that with experience garnered over the years, he had so much to offer for better society.
The Deputy Governor urged the delegates to make the right choice by voting for him during the forthcoming PDP primaries, promising not to disappoint the state.
In their various responses, former Commissioner, Joint Projects, Chief J J Okoro, described the Deputy Governor as eminently qualified and experienced to succeed his boss.
He urged the delegates to make wise choice by supporting Oko Chukwu and resisting any form of imposition.
Similarly, former Military Administrator of Cross River State, Navy Captain Chris Osondu (retd.); the Director General, Ikpeazu Vision Rangers, Comrade O’Brien; Chairman Ward leader Arochukwu LGA, Mr Ozone Okoroafor; a former Commissioner, Civil Service Commission, Mazi Emmanuel Jideofor; and a former Woman Leader, Mrs Grace Chijioke; urged the delegates to support the Deputy Governor.
According to them, for the PDP to get it right, the party must present a selling candidate with integrity and experience in acts of governance in the person of Sir Ude Oko Chukwu.
They declared their opposition to imposition of candidates on the people.
Other speakers at the glamourous event included former member representing Arochukwu Ohafia federal constituency, Chief Arua Arunsi; former Secretary to State Government, SSG, Dr Eme Okoro; Rev. Dr Onyema Agbai , former TC Chairman, Chief Mrs Grace Agbara; Barr Ukpai Ukaiwe; and Chief Sunday Ifeigbo, among others.
The speakers also said they were resolute that power must shift back to Abia North in 2023 in the spirit of equity and justice, while declaring Oko Chukwu as their consensus candidate for the job.
