Ikpeazu’s ex-commissioner clears air over purported vote of confidence by Isuikwuato stakeholders

Former Commissioner for Strategy and Social Development, Abia State, Chief Obinna Ekekwe, has cleared the air over the purported vote of confidence allegedly passed by Isuikwuato stakeholders on Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, describing the report as misleading.
The former Commissioner and bosom friend of the Governor said nothing about the Governor and governace of Abia State was mentioned during their meeting where the purported vote of confidence was said to have been passed.
He said only matters affecting Isiukwuato interest in the 2023 elections were discussed at the meeting held at the Proples Democratic Party, PDP, office at Ovim.
Ekekwe who spoke exclusively with Wawa News Global asked mischief makers to stop spreading false information about Isuikwuato people.
His words: ” The Governor is my friend. He made me Commissioner. We attended the same Secondary School. I have utmost respect and regard for him.
” But as far as that meeting summoned at the instance of the PDP National Deputy Legal Adviser, Chief Okechukwu Osuoha is concerned nothing like the governor or the governance of Abia State was mentioned.
” Osuoha briefed us on how we can leverage on his activities in Abuja to shore up support for PDP in Isuikwuato. He admonished everybody to play by the rules of the party and pleaded with any party member running for any office to accept the the results of the primaries when it eventually takes place.”.
The former Commissioner explained that what the stakeholders agreed at the meeting was that imposition of candidates would no longer be tolerated in Isuikwuato.
” We emphasised emphatically that nobody should ever impose any candidate on the party. They should allow Isuikwuato people to select the best for the various offices they are contesting for.
” We said that nobody will tolerate imposition because that was what ruined our opportunity and chances in 2019 elections. Results were already announced in Umuahia before the primaries could take place, and we said we will not witness such anymore.
” Let the aspirants go to the field and talk to the delegates and party stakeholders and assure them of their ability to deliver if given opportunity.
” So, there was nothing like vote of confidence at the meeting. Anybody who reported that was just being mischievous. You know we have a lot of mischief makers these days”.
