We must resist impunity, imposition in Abia PDP – Party secretary cries out
* Insists 3-man delegate election never held
By Steve Oko
The Secretary of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Abia State, Mr David Iro, has urged stakeholders of the party, to rise in unison and vigorously resist imposition and impunity creeping into the party.
Iro who made the call while addressing newsmen in Umuahia, said that contrary to claims in some quarters, the three-man delegate congress had not held anywhere in the state.
“There has never been any delegates conference in the PDP any where in Abia. I can state it categorically that it has not been done,” he said.
According to him, the delegates election has been scheduled twice but has not been held as both the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the police rejected the invitation to observe the congress citing public holidays.
The Scribe alleged plots to manipulate the delegate list, a move he said could cause the implosion of the party.
He, therefore, called on party elders and stakeholders to resist the development which is already tearing the party apart.
The Abia PDP Secretary, also appealed to the National leadership of the party to wade into the matter before it got out of control.
“The NWC of our party cannot endorse impunity in Abia because if the right thing is not done, PDP will pay a great price (at the 2023 poll)’, adding that Abia has been a victim of impunity and imposition which has made the state not to move forward like others”
