Keep hope alive, your labour not in vain, deputy gov tells Abia workers

Deputy Governor of Abia State, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, has urged Abia workers not to lose hope but remain committed to their duties, as their sweat for the state will not be in vain.
The Deputy Governor who gave the encouragement in a goodwill message to workers on this year’s Workers’ Day, described workers as the “engine room of every Government” .
He congratulated Abia workers “for their resilience, commitment to duty and sacrifices in driving the policies and programmes of Government.”
He appealed to workers to be patient with Government as efforts are being intensified to profer solutions to their various challenges.
The former Speaker, Abia House of Assembly who said that the welfare of workers and pensioners would continue to occupy a top place on the priority list of the State Government urged workers to remain dedicated to duty.
He also urged them to shun corrupt tendencies no matter the temptation, reminding them that workers are Government mirror and ambassadors in society.
The Deputy Governor also felicitated Muslims in the state on their Eid Al Fitri celebration marking the end of the Ramada fast.
He urged Muslims to use the period to pray for the end of the security challenges bedeviling the country, and to also pray for peace as activities for the 2023 elections get underway.
The Deputy Governor tasked Muslims on love and unity in their neighbourhood, urging them to shun any act capable of causing disharmony in their environment.
Oko Chukwu is is a leading governorship aspirant of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, noted that “what Nigeria needs most now is peace and security for a seamless transition in 2023”.
