I won’t disappoint you, Oko Chukwu tells Obingwa delegates
* Promises to complete Ikpeazu’s unrealised dreams
By Steve Oko
A frontline governorship aspirant of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has assured Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu’s Obingwa kinsmen that he would not disappoint them if voted into power.
Oko Chukwu who made the promise when he visited Obingwa to solicit support for his governorship ambition, told delegates from Obingwa that he would not derail from the track already put in place by his boss, the Governor.
The former Speaker, Abia House of Assembly who said he had garnered enough experience to fix the state if elected, promised to  religiously follow and improve on the footprints of the Governor.
Sir Oko Chukwu who went down memory lane to recall the healthy relationship that had existed and still exists between him and Obingwa people, assured that if given the mandate, he would continue to improve on the legacies built by his boss.
His words: “If by tomorrow I become the governor, I will not miss the track where my boss stopped. I will be able to tell you where he stopped and those of his dream that were not actualized, those visions, the projects that he started which may not be finished.
“We ran on the same ticket and whatever concerns him concerns me. Whatever that is left undone, you can be rest assured that my government will complete it”.
The Deputy Governor reminded the delegates and stakeholders that they had a sacred duty to perform in the forthcoming party primaries.
“If Abia will be okay, it vsolely depends on all of us”, Oko Chukwu said.
Speaking earlier, the immediate past Secretary to State Government, SSG, Dr Eme Okoro, described Oko Chukwu as a seasoned and tested material to succeed Ikpeazu.
In a remark, former Commissioner for Joint Projects, Mr JJ Okoro, urged the delegates not to be unduly influenced by monetary inducements but vote for the best candidate to enable PDP continue in power beyond 2023.
The former Commissioner also said he decided to support Oko Chukwu because he was nobody’s anointed candidate, but decided on his own to contest.
He argued that Abia would be safer in the hands of a Governor who is nobody’s anointed or stooge.
In their respective speeches, the Chairman, Obingwa LGA, Hon. Ibe Nwoke; a former House of Representatives member, Hon. Eziuche Ubani; PDP Obingwa LGA. Chairman, Hon. Set Nkwachi Agomuh; Chairman of Obingwa stakeholders forum, Chief Roland, lauded Oko Chukwu’s loyalty and humility.
Other speakers including the Youth Leader,  Mr Chigozie Joshua; Chairman of Ward Chairmen Hon. Aham Egbulafu; the Deputy Leader, Hon Eme Ngwakwe;    expressed optimism that God would use the delegates to give the Deputy Governor the gubernatorial ticket.
