* As Aba delegates pledge support
By Steve Oko
Deputy Governor of Abia State and a leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said Abia under his watch, would witness rapid multi-sectoral transformation.

He said he would hit the ground running if elected, having spent 19 years around the corridors of power learning the ropes and familiarising with the challenges of the state..
The former Speaker Abia House of Assembly who stated this when he visited Abs North and Aba South PDP stakeholders and delegates for the forthcoming primaries, said he had garnered enough experience to revamp the state if given the opportunity.
Oko Chukwu said his dream for Aba, if unveiled, would make Abia the pride of South East, and the economic hub of Nigeria.
The Deputy Governor urged the stakeholders and delegates to throw their support behind him for greater Abia project, assuring that he will spread development evenly across the state.
Oko Chukwu said he remained the best hand for the job having been part of the processes to rebuild Abia.
His words: “I have been privileged to serve Abia State under the administrations of Chief Orji Uzor Kalu; Chief Theodore Orji and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and if I am elected Governor of the State, I know those things we did well and also recognized those things that we would have done the other way to get a better result.
“And I am the person that would do that because I was part of those processes”.

“So every other person that’s coming, is coming to learn and you will discover at the end of the day you end up not doing it well. I carefully checked all those things and I said I’m convinced that i will do it and put things right and do Abia better. I have also considered my experiences and I say to my self all these experiences would not be vain. The 19 years Abians invested on me cannot be in vain”.
The Deputy Governor counseled the delegates on the dangers of electing “a square peg in a round hole” for whatever considerations or influence.
Meanwhile, the delegates have assured him of their massive support to actualise his ambition.
Some of the stakeholders who spoke at the colourful events were: Hon. J C. Mbaonu; Chairman Aba South PDP LGA, Hon. Sunny Onyembi; the Chairman of the Aba South Stakeholders, Hon. Obioma.
Others were Hon. Prince Stanley Okechukwu; Barr. Emeka Nwaogu, the Chairman of Ward Chairmen, Hon. John Nwawuike; the Deputy Chairman of Aba North, Lady Joy Nwachukwu; Acting Chairman PDP Aba North LGA, Elder Emeka, and Zonal Chairman Abia South PDP, Hon. David Chigbu.
Speaker after speaker, expressed optimism that God would crown the efforts and aspiration of the Deputy Governor with success.
