Ohuabunwa stated this when a former Ohafia Council boss and House of Representatives aspirant for the constituency, Chief Fred Idika, visited him in his Arochukwu country home to seek his blessing for his ambition.

The former Leader, ECOWAS Parliament said time had come when only individuals with antecedents of performance and capacity would be given the party’s ticket to avoid losing the battle to the opposition.
Senator Ohuabunwa, however, saluted the courage of Chief Idika for declaring interest in the race and encounraged him to pursue his ambition with optimism and to consult with other people from the constituency.
He described him as an illustrious son of Arochukwu/ Ohafia federal consituency, and wished him well in his ambition.
Senator Ohuabunwa who was the first lawmaker to represent the consituency from 1999 to 2007, reiterated his full support for the rotation of the seat between Arochukwu and Ohafia LGAs on two term basis.
This, according to him, will help promote peace and politics without bitterness and acrimony in the constituency.

Speaking earlier, Idika sought the support of Senator Ohuabunwa who he said remained indispensable weapon in the political arsenal of Abia North and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP under which platform he intends to run.
He said he was determined and ready to give the constituency a quality representation.
Later in an interview with Wawa News Global, Idika said one of his major priorities if elected would be to leverage on his position to restore security in the constituency.
Decrying the precarious security situation in the area the former Ohafia Council boss said he would replicate his strategy which he deployed to contain insecurity while holding sway as Council boss.
Chief Idika also said he would help build health care facilities in the constituency to help stop avoidable deaths.
Regretting that some sick patients especially elderly persons on referral to tertiary hospitals outside the constituency had died on the way due to distance, the US-based business mogul promised to utilise his global contracts to build health facilities in the constituency.
