96 Abians to benefit from Greg Ibe’s fresh scholarship award

No fewer than 96 Abians will receive full university scholarships for the 2021/2022 academic year from an Industrialist and Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu, Professor Greg Ibe.
This is coming less than one year after the philanthropist awarded scholarship to 100 indigents Abians.
Professor Ibe gave the hint of the new stream of scholarship while receiving a Chieftaincy title of “Uri Chi Dere” during the New Yam festival of Mgboko Amaise autonomous community in Obingwa local government area.
According to him each of the 17 Local Government Areas in the state will get four slots making a total of 68 students while the balance of 26 would be given to the indigent people.
Professor Ibe represented by former Commissioner for Commerce, and the Chairman Abia Crusaders Foundation, Prince Emeka Okafor, said his passion for youth development was driving him for the gesture.
He said that the scholarship awards would cover key fields of study including Medicine and Surgery, nursing and other professional courses..
Last year alone 100 undergraduates benefited from I’ve scholarship programme, thus bring the total number of beneficiaries to 350 since the scheme started.
While dedicating the Chieftaincy title to the youths of Abia State , he further explained that the Scholarship awards is handled by Gregory University Scholarship Board.
The philanthropist was among few Abians that donated hundreds of bags of rice to the state government for distribution to the masses at the outset of covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
