Owelle Umueri goes home in style

The remains of Pa Francis Anakputali Obigwe the Owelle Umueri, has been laid to rest in his home town Iruagu Umuatolu Ivite Village Umueri, in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The funeral mass of the deceased began with a ‘Service of Songs’ held on Thursday the 14th day of October 2021, at his residence.
The St Mark’s Catholic Church Nneyi Umueri venue of the funeral mass of the deceased, was filled to its capacity by guests from all walks of life, who came in their large number, for the epoch burial.
These comprised the academic, captains of industry, politicians and the clergy.
The deceased body was conveyed to his compound for interment, in a colourful motor cade comprising funeral undertakers, relatives, friends and Well-wishers, amid eulogies, testimonies and funeral farewell songs.
First Son of the deceased Hilary Onochie Obigwe who is the State Account General, described his late father as a man of humility and one who has regards for everyone irrespective of age and social status.
According to him, his late father was a great teacher and one that found ways of letting anyone that came across him go with something tangible.
” He was a teacher, community leader and a highly religious person, as you can see the crowd of people that gathered here to bid him farewell” he further enthused.
He prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest, while wishing journey mercies to those that came to commiserate with them.
First daughter of the deceased, Mrs Ogochukwu Cecilia Okaa, gave God all the eternal glory for a life well spent by her father.
In an emotional laden words, she described their father as a friend, confidant and role model, who taught his children life’s rudiments and lessons with which good morals and Godly virtues, were imbibed in them.
She prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.
Fourth Son of the deceased, Francis Chinedu Obigwe, described his late father as a kind and loving man, who had a heart of gold, a philanthropist who despite his meagre resources, assisted those in need.
He promised to live the good legacies he left behind, and prayed God for a peaceful repose of his soul.
Scores of dignitaries that graced the funeral ceremony, described the late Patriarch of the Obigwe’s as a religious man, great teacher and lover of the people.
Some of the dignatories that spoke at the funeral includes a former governor of the State, Mr Peter Obi, Barr Harry Uduh State Head of Service, Ven Amaechi Okwuosa MD/ CEO Awka Capital Development Authority, among others.
The late Pa Francis Obigwe attended the St Charles Teachers Training College Onitsha, The Teachers Training College Ihiala and the University of Nigeria Nsukka, where he obtained an Associateship Certificate in Education (ACE).
He retired from active service as a Senior Supervisor of Schools in 1984.
His stint in politics saw him being appointed Member/Commissioner Civil Service Commission, in the then administration of Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife.
The late Pa Obigwe is survived by wife Iyom Pauline Onuegbuna Obigwe, children who includes Ogochukwu Cecilia Okaa, Hillary Onochie Obigwe, Chukwujekwu Cosmas Obigwe, Innocent Maduabuchi Obigwe, Ifediora Ukamaka, Francis Chinedu Obigwe, Jude Chibuzor Obigwe, In-laws, numerous grand children and great grand children.
