By Steve Oko
Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has strongly condemned the alleged gang rape of a female student of Abia State Polytechnic Aba by three security operatives attached to Operation Rapid Response in Aba.
Ohuabunwa urged police authorities to ensure the amorous personnel are fished out and punished to serve as deterrent to other bad eggs among security operatives.
He said it was not a good signal for any society where law enforcement agents suddenly become law breakers.
Ohuabunwa in a press statement sympathised with the victim as well as other victims of similar atrocity.
He commended Abia First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu for her quick response and supported her determination to get justice for the victim.
Senator Ohuabunwa appealed to students of Abia Poly who took to the streets to demonstrate their greivances over the heinous crime to remain calm as the State Government has promised to look into the matter.
The former Senate Committee on Primary Health Care and Communicable Diseases encouraged other rape victims to speak out instead of dying in silence.
