Abia APC commences sale of forms for ward congress

The All Progressive Congress APC in Abia State, has commenced the sale of forms for the ward congress scheduled for Saturday July 31.
State Chairman of the party, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa who announced this Wednesday during a press briefing in Umuahia, said the forms could be obtained at the state Secretariat of the party.
According to him Chairmanship form goes for N10,000 while the form for Deputy Chairmanship, Secretary and Treasurer goes for N5000 respectively.
Forms for other elective offices, sell for N2000 flat, he added.
He however cautioned aspirants to ensure they obtain genuine form signed by both the Chairman and Secretary of the party after paying the fees at the designated banks.
The APC Chairman said that nobody would be discriminated against in the exercise as both old and new members would enjoy equal privileges provided they were captured in the party’s membership register and posses voter’s card.
He however, explained that certain offices require certain academic qualifications, adding that new entrants to the party had been granted waiver by the Interim national leadership of the party to aspire for any position of their choice.
Hon. Nwankpa who said the party had reconciled various individuals and political camps who felt aggrieved for various reasons predicted landslide for Abia APC in the 2023 polls.
He said that the waive of defection which had hit the ruling Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the state was a sign that APC would take over as the ruling party in Abia come 2023.
Asked if the party was into discussions with Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu being rumoured to be perfecting plans to also defect to APC, Nwankpa said he did not depend on rumours but added that ” when we get to the bridge we know how to cross the river”.
He disclosed that former Commissioner for Agriculture and member who represented Aba North and Aba South at the House of Representatives, Hon Uzor Azubuike; and Chief Chris Nkwonta, would soon be formerly defecting from PDP to APC in an elaborate state ceremony.
On zoning of political offices, Nwankpa said “APC does not recognize zoning but competence and integrity of candidates.
He said that any competent governoship candidate that had what it takes to take the state to new heights would be given the party’s tickets irrespective of his or her senatorial zone.
