Bayelsa: Jonathan, Diri’s aide, others’ presence boosts octogenarian’s funeral

Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan at the weekend paid glowing tributes to the late Madam Molly Ogoun(new Egirani) of Anyama-Ogbia and Ekowe communities of Ogbia and Southern Ijaw council areas of Bayelsa state respectively.
The Tide sources which monitored the burial ceremony from Yenagoa, the state capital learnt that the late octogenarian and Matriarch of the Ogoun and Egirani families whose parents were from Anyama-Ogbia until her demise was married to the late Mr Richard Ogoun of Ekowe community of Southern Ijaw LGA.
In a condolence register made available to Journalists by members and friends of the bereaved family the ex-president was quoted pouring eulogies on the late matriarch,adding that during her life time she had instilled in her surviving children orderliness, decorum as well as other countless virtues.
Jonathan called on the children to sustain their late mother’s endearing lifestyle,describing her as a devoted christian who dedicated her entire life on earth to the service of God and humanity,just as he prayed God to continue giving the families the fortitude to bear the demise of their matriarch.
“Our correspondent gathered that the former president’s condolence statement reads in parts: ” I commiserate with the Ogoun and Egirani families on the demise of your dear mother who passed away at the age of 82 years”.
“Mama was a devoted christian who dedicated her time to serving God and humanity.Her honesty,kindness and dedication to good courses endeared her to many in her family and community”.
In same vein chief of staff to Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa state,Chief Benson Agadaga has also described the late Madam Molly Ricard Ogoun as an epitome of peace and a disciplinarian mother.
He noted that mothers world over have been support bases to their children and families at large,reiterating that the honesty,peaceful disposition and cordiality of the children of the late Mrs Ogoun could be mainly attributed to the manner and way in which she raised them all.
Our sources reports that the late Mrs Ogoun was survived by relatives,Children and many grand and great-grand children,chief amongst whom were Apostles Manager Ogoun and Peter Ogoun as well as an academics with the Niger Delta University, Amassoma,Dr.Stanley Ogoun.
Dignitaries who attended the funeral ceremony with the former president were, the chief of Staff to the Bayelsa state Governor,Chief Benson Agadaga,the Obenema (paramount ruler) of Opume kingdom,HRH King A.J Turner, his counterparts from Emakalakala and Akipdlai communities,their Royal Highnesses, Iboro Edaba and Victor Igbaba,respectively.
Others were, Senator Nimi Barigha Amange,the president,Azikel group,Dr.Azibapu Eruani,Special Adviser to Bayelsa state Governor on political matters (2), Hon.Gabriel Ogbara, the Executive Assistant to the Bayelsa state Governor,Barr.George Turnah, former Bayelsa state commissioner for Education,Hon.Tobias James,Professor Brisibibe and Hon.Okoba Egai, amongst others.
