Prof Umaru Pate, Okunna, other media scholars storm Aba for ACSPN event Friday

Major communication scholars and practitioners in the country will this week storm Abia State as the Association of Communication Scholars & Professionals of Nigeria, ACSPN, Abia State chapter, begins Empowerment Lecture series.
The maiden edition of the empowerment lecture series is slated for Friday, January 29 at the Pavilion of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba.

According to a release jointly signed by the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Chinyere Eze; and the Secretary, Deacon Steve Oko who also doubles as the State Secretary of the association, the event will be declared open by the National President of ACSPN, and the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Gombe, Professor Umaru Pate.
The topic of the lecture according to the release is: “The Role of the Media, Government and Youths in Conflict Resolution”.
The topic will be discussed by the Head, Department of English and Communications Studies, Federal University Otuoke, Dr. Christian Diri.
Other dignitaries expected at the event to be hosted by the Abia State Chairman of the association, and Head Department of Mass Communication, Rhema University Aba, and Pioneer Head, Department of Mass Communication, Abia State Polytechnic, Dr. Uwaoma Uche include:the National Secretary of ACSPN, Professor Nosa Owen- Ibie; its National Vice President, South East, Dr. Ifeyinwa Nsude; while the Rector Abia State Polytechnic Aba, Dr. Kalu Osonwa is the Guest of honour.
Former Commissioner for Information Anambra State, Professor Stella Okunna who is also the South East Chairman, Board of Trustees of the association, is among the dignitaries to grace the event to be chaired by Sir Onyekwere Okpara, former Rector of Abia Poly.
Expected also at the colourful event are the South East officials and Chairmen of the association, Abia State officials and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ; the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations ,NIPR; Radio Television and Theater Workers Union, RATTAWU; IMIM; APCON, and other allied media platforms.
According to the release, certificate of participation will be issued to participants at the end of the epochal lecture.
The release urged all media and communication practitioners, scholars and stakeholders in the state including students and lecturers of Mass Communication in all tertiary institutions in Abia as well as members of the public to fully participate in the exercise.
