Anambra monarch celebrates  ‘ofala’ in style

The Ogidi ancient kingdom in the Idemmili North local government area of Anambra State went agog on Monday the 29th day of December last 2020, during the annual ofala festival of the Traditional Ruler of the kingdom Igwe (Pharm) Alexander Onyido , with guests from all walks of life gathered at the expansive palace of the learned monarch, to felicitate with him , on the occasion of the annual festival.

The event which was graced by eminent personalities, had the colours of one well taken place, with cultural dance groups on parade, likewise cabinet members of the monarch who dressed in traditional attires, adding spice to the event. There were Politicians, Captains of Industries, the academic and leaders of thought who graced the annual event in their large numbers.

In his opening remarks Igwe Onyido thanked God for sparing the lives of everyone that was present at the event and those that were unable to grace the event for one reason or the other, at a period the covid 19 pandemic was ravaging the world. He called for peace among his subjects, saying that no society ever thrives in anarchy but rather through constructive dialogue. The Traditional Ruler used the occasion to issue certificates of recognition to some prominent indigenes of the town and the State at large.

Speaking to journalists during the event, the President General of the town union High Chief Chuka Onubogu extolled the virtues of Igwe Onyido as one of exemplary. He stated that since his assumption to the royal throne, that the Ogidi ancient kingdom has been at peace with one another and its neighbours. He prayed God to grant him long life and good health, to enable him carry on with his good works.
On her own part, wife of the Traditional Ruler Her Majesty, Ugobeze Patricia Onyido described her husband as a kind hearted fellow who is ever caring to anyone that comes across him. She prayed God to shower him with more wisdom, to enable him carry on with the task of leading his people.

Similarly, Son of the Monarch Prince Marcel Onyido thanked God for a successful ofala festival , while thanking visitors that graced the event, especially, those of his friends and well wishers, journey mercies back to their various destinations.

Igwe (Pharm) Alexander Onyido ascended the throne of his fore fathers and was unanimously coronated about three years ago as traditional ruler of Ogidi ancient kingdom, following the demise of the former Monarch the late Igwe Amobi.
