Breaking: Bayelsa LG assembly suspends Deputy, Majority leaders

Lawmakers in the Ekeremor Legislative Assembly have impeached and indefinitely suspended their Deputy Leader, Mr. Pimor Sylvester Gaiyeibo; and the Majority Leader, Ken Ekiye over alleged financial embezzlement, legislative recklessness and gross misconduct.
This was made known by Mr.Tonye Yemoleigha, Media assistant to the executive Chairman of Ekeremor Local government council.
The Councilors at a sitting today took the decision following a motion by the Ward 9 Councilor, Mr. Egbirisi Selekeodudu – Ward 7 – and seconded by Mr. Esamasuode Aguananagha representing Ward 2.
The local government lawmakers further constituted a new leadership with Mr. Sunday Zide of Ward 11 retaining the Leader while Mr. Pinakeme Omuku – Ward 7 – is the new Deputy Leader just as Mr. Churchill Aden of Ward 10 emerged as the new Majority Leader.
New Deputy Leader, Mr. Pinakeme Omuku and the Deputy Chief Whip, Mr. Esamasuode Aguananagha representing Ward 2 said the suspension of two Councilors and leadership change is to ensure discipline, smooth running of the legislature and stability in the administration of Ekeremor Local Government.
Meanwhile, they have adjourned sitting to the second of next month.
