Bayelsa Assembly Debunks Impeachment  plot against Gov Diri

The twenty four member leadership of the Bayelsa state House of Assembly has debunked the rumour making the rounds that there are orchestrated plot to impeach the state governor, Senator Douye Diri, describing it as a plan been hatched by some disgruntled elements whose target is to embank on a journey to distract the governor from delivering his dividends of democracy which he promised Bayelsans during his electioneering campaigns.
The chairman of House Committee on Information Hon.Barr Tare Porri who represents Ekeremor Constituency 1 , who was flanked by Hon Moses Marlon , a member representing Southern Ijaw constituency 111 stated this while briefing the press in Yenagoa.
According to him,the impeachment plot was an orchestrated rumour by those persons that do not mean well for the state governor, Senator Douye Diri.
He described the  rumour of  impeachment against the governor  as not only unfounded, but vexatious that was targeted at distracting the governor’s attention from embanking on developmental projects that would impact and add value to the state.”
He said the Bayelsa state 6th Assembly since its inauguration has been in harmonious relationship between the Legislature and Executive arm as partners in progress and wonder while detractors and enemies of government could embarked on such rumours.”They have failed, despite their distractions, the governor will continue to implement government policies that would to endear good governance.”
He therefore solicited the cooperation and support from all and urged  Bayelsans to rally round the  prosperity for all government of Senator Douye Diri.
He said the leadership of the Assembly under Rt Hon Abraham  Ngobere despite the challenges it faced last year has continue to remain united and work in synergy with the Executive arm of government, assuring Bayelsans in this new year the Assembly will not deviate from its statutory legislative functions as well as its oversight functions.
On expectations for the new legislative year, he said the House has resumed with more vigour to add more values to its legislative functions  and of course its oversight functions.
“The 6th Assembly has passed reasonable numbers of bills ,while some are pending , most especially the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act , VAPP and we are ready to set new legislative agenda for the state in 2021”
